About us

Open Door is an organisation that helps talented young people who do not have the financial support or resources to gain a place at one of the UK’s leading drama schools.

Open Door is an 7-month part time intensive course designed to give you what you need to take the next step in your career.  We work with people aged between 18-30 (Actors) and 17-30 (Behind the Scenes), based in the Midlands, Essex, Sheffield, London and the South East who are serious about pursuing a career in either Acting, Technical Theatre and Production Arts but may need a little help in getting there. We know how difficult and expensive the process of applying for drama school can be, so we want to help by giving you the support you need so you can go into your auditions feeling prepared, confident and without any worry of financial strain - and it’s all free!

Successful Acting applicants will receive:

  • Free auditions at the UK’s leading drama schools including; Guildhall, LAMDA, RADA, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland
  • Free travel to any drama school audition outside of your region
  • Fifteen hours of one-to-one acting tutoring from experienced industry professionals. Helping to get your speeches where they need to be
  • Musical tutoring for any singing stages of your auditions
  • Bespoke workshops led by top industry professionals
  • Free theatre trips followed by discussions
  • Bursary and funding advice

Successful Behind the Scenes applicants will receive:

  • Support to apply for interviews at the UK’s leading drama schools including; Guildhall, LAMDA, RADA, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama,and The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, including interview fee exemption whenever required
  • Free travel to any drama school interviews outside of your region
  • Bespoke workshops led by top industry professionals
  • Mentoring from top industry leaders professionals
  • Free theatre trips followed by discussions
  • Bursary and funding advice
